Curry Recipe

A nice curry dish is one of my favorite things so I found this great curry recipe to share. I was looking for something new for dinner last night and I realized that I had never tried to make a curry dish. My cupboards didn’t contain any curry powder so I wanted to try to make curry from scratch.

When someone talks about curry they are usually talking about a dish that includes some common spices like coriander, cumin, turmeric, ginger, cloves, and others. You can buy a curry powder but we like to make it with the individual spices.

Curry Vegetables and Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp coriander
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp cardamom
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • tsp turmeric
  • 1 pinch (no more) hing
  • ginger
  • onion
  • garlic
  • Meat and/or vegetables, as desired

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan until it is hot but before it is smoking.
  • Add the coriander, cumin, chili powder, cardamom, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and hing to the oil.
  • Saute some ginger, onions, and garlic in the hot oil.
  • From there, add whatever you want to eat and cook it, whether it’s chicken, beef, or vegetables.

This turned out to be a wonderful meal. The meal was complete with some added zucchini, green pepper and mushrooms and I served it over rice. Very delicious and healthy as well.

I will have to admit that it made my head sweat but I’m a pale man of Scottish descent so it was likely mild for the Indian curry fans.
