8 Foods That Help Boost The Immune System

Immune System Boost

A healthy immune system is super important for living a happy and healthy life. With the COVID – 19 virus and all the other illnesses going around this is a great time to give your immune system a natural boost.

1. Broccoli

Broccoli is a great immune system booster. It is packed with vitamins A, C and E. We like to lightly steam it and serve it with rice.

2. Citrus Fruits

Citrus fruits are high in vitamin C which has been thought to increase your white blood cells. White blood cells are an important part of your immune system. They are great as a snack or juice.

3. Garlic

The health properties of garlic has been known for centuries. It contains calcium, potassium and over 100 sulfuric compounds which really gives it the anti-bacteria and parasite killing properties garlic is known for.

4. Ginger

We eat a lot of ginger. I love it in a carrot, apple and ginger juice. Ginger is great for helping to reduce inflammation. We add ginger to our juices and love it with sushi.

5. Green Tea

Green tea has a lot of antioxidant properties and contains polyphenols which help reduce inflammation. You can get green tea extracts (which is also known to help with weight control) or just have a nice cup of tea.

6. Red Bell Peppers

The red bell pepper contains almost twice the vitamin C that citrus fruits do. We use these in stir fry dishes or just cut them up and eat them raw.

7. Spinach

Spinach has a lot of vitamin C, beta carotene and antioxidants. We like to lightly steam it or mix it into a salad with other greens. It is also a main ingredient in our daily green juice.

8. Turmeric

We go through a lot of turmeric. This is a great spice that helps to reduce inflammation and the curcumin may help you fight off a number of viruses, including herpes and the flu.

Combine Everything

It is more important now than ever to keep your immune system functioning well. A healthy immune system can fight almost any disease. The best way to keep yours healthy is to consume a variety of healthy foods, vitamins and keep active.

What do you do to keep you healthy?
