Full Spectrum CBD vs Isolate

We are talking about full spectrum CBD products today. The hemp and general cannabis industry is one of the fastest growing in the natural health area. The reason for this is that the products are natural and effective.

One of the biggest areas of confusion that we are finding is that people don’t know what types of products to buy. There is full spectrum, partial spectrum and isolate. What do those words mean? We will explain that here.

The cannabis plant has many different cannabinoids which are chemical compounds found in the plant’s resin that interact with our endocannabinoid system. The two that have been studied the most are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). There are a lot of articles that go into the science of both of these but this article is about the difference between the types of CBD products.

The process of making the plant into a product is called extraction. Producers extract the oils from the plant in a variety of ways which we cover in another article. During this process the molecules can be isolated which produces what is called an isolate.

Full Spectrum

The study of the cannabis plant has been limited for many years due to the illegal status of the plant but now there are several studies that are showing the properties of the plant. When we talk about full spectrum we are talking about the way the plant is processed into a usable product. With full spectrum all of the molecules from the plant are used in the final product.

The advantages of full spectrum products are that the as yet unknown properties of the plant are included. It’s like eating a food that is high in vitamin C versus taking a vitamin C supplement. With the whole food or plant you get all the micronutrients and not just the isolated ones.

CBD Isolate

Producers of CBD products use a more thorough extraction process to extract just the CBD molecules. The idea is to offer the isolated CBD because that particular molecule has been studied more that the others and we know some of the benefits.

Which One is Best

A commonly asked question is “Which one is the best to get?”. We feel that nutrition from foods is more valuable that isolated vitamins and with that in mind our thoughts are that the full spectrum is the most beneficial.

We found a great Full Spectrum CBD product here!
