What is a Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid Skin Care
We found this hyaluronic acid skin care product and started wondering what is hyaluronic acid? We all have hyaluronic acid in our bodies. It is found in the skin tissues and helps to lubricate our joints. When you use a hyaluronic acid cream your skin can become more elastic and resilient. Hyaluronic acid binds water to cells and can hold water up to 1000 times it’s weight.
This is what Wikipedia has to say about hyaluronic acid:
Hyaluronan (also called hyaluronic acid or hyaluronate or HA) is an anionic, nonsulfated glycosaminoglycan distributed widely throughout connective, epithelial, and neural tissues. It is unique among glycosaminoglycans in that it is nonsulfated, forms in the plasma membrane instead of the Golgi, and can be very large, with its molecular weight often reaching the millions. The average 70 kg (154 lbs) person has roughly 15 grams of hyaluronan in the body, one-third of which is turned over (degraded and synthesized) every day.
How is Hyaluronic Acid Used?
It is commonly used in the attempted treatments of osteoarthritis of the knee by injecting it into the joint, as a prescription skin lotion containing sodium hyaluronate as its active ingredient and as an anti-aging wrinkle serum that promotes the reduction of wrinkles, increases skin nourishment and firms skin.
The latter of these uses is the easiest application for the common person.
What are the Effects?
According to a double blind control study by Dr. Glynis R. Ablon, who is on the dermatology faculty at the University of California, Los Angeles, it may now be possible for anyone to experience the benefits of hyaluronic acid fillers without a needle.
Significant improvements in overall efficacy, skin roughness, and “smoothing effect” were observed after 90 days.
The hyaluronic acid in our body starts to deplete with age so it’s a good idea to use a serum such as this Anti-aging Serum daily. We have seen great results personally.
This has been such a great discovery for us and we are excited to share it with you!
