Natural Home Remedies

Spring is in the air and after a long winter most of us need a little sprucing up. Here are three natural home remedies that can help get winters grip off of us and brighten us up like a spring flower!

Razor Burn

Olive oil,bees-wax and herbs:

You can make a mixture of olive oil, bees-wax and some calming herbs such as calendula, comfrey, lavender flowers and thyme. The combination of these elements contains healing agents that can sooth irritated skin along with leaving a thin-film of moisture that wont clog pores. Here is a simple recipe.

  • 8 oz olive oil
  • 1 Table spoon each of : calendula, comfrey, lavender flowers and thyme.
  • 2 ounces of beeswax
  • Glass jar (preferably colored to protect it from light)
  • Popsicle Stick

Place the olive oil and herbs in a double boiler. Warm through till the oil takes on the herbs colors and the herbs are darkened. It may take as long as a half hour. Do not leave unattended!

Carefully pour through a strainer into a glass jar containing the bee’s wax. Stir until wax melts. Let cool. Store the jar away from light and never use your fingers to remove the salve. A great tool for getting it out is a Popsicle stick.

Calendula and comfrey are soothing herbs while lavender flowers and thyme are antiseptic.

Athlete’s Foot

Baking Soda Paste:

Apply a mixture of 1 tablespoon baking soda and lukewarm water making a paste like consistency. Rub on the site. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Dust with corn starch once completely dry. Adding this to your self-care list may really help if you’re suffering from this fungus.

Callused Feet

Aspirin and lemon juice:

Take about 6 aspirin crushed into a powder then mix in 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and water. Once it is paste like apply to your calluses, put your whole foot into a plastic bag then wrap a warm towel around it. Relax for 10 minutes. Remove the towel and plastic bag, rinse and scrub your foot gently with a pumice stone. Your callused skin should flake away easily leaving you with soft, comfortable and happy feet.

If you are allergic to aspirin or have a sensitivity do not use this on your skin.

These home remedies are just that. They are not to take the place of any doctors directives.
